What subject package will you choose in Form Four?

The Ministry of Education has introduced new subject packages for students entering Form Four in 2020. Those Form 3 students in 2019 entering Form Four next year will have subject packages to choose from instead of the conventional science and arts streams. The arts and science streams are replaced with subjects that support STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Arts, Music) education.
Key facts about the all new subject packages:
- Core subjects for all students are Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics, Science*, History and Islamic Studies/Moral education
- Physical and Health Education is a compulsory subject for all
- Students will be able to choose from electives in four categories: languages, Islamic studies, humanities and arts, and STEM
- STEM electives are further divided into: pure science, applied science and technology, and vocational subjects
- There are 38 elective subjects for STEM category (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics)
- There are 53 elective subjects for Humanities & Arts category
- Schools are given autonomy in providing elective subjects, taking into account school facilities and the availability of teachers for subjects offered
*Students who take any two pure science subjects are exempted from taking the core Science subject.

#Students who take Pend. Al-Quran & As-Sunnah and Pend. Syariah Islamiah, OR Turath Dirasat Al-Islamiah and Turath Al-Quran Wa Al-Sunnah, OR Usul Al-Din and Al-Syariahany subjects are exempted from taking the core Islamic Studies subject. |
