YB PUAN FADHLINA SIDEK
MINISTER OF EDUCATION MALAYSIA
YB Puan Fadhlina Sidek, a social activist and lawyer has been appointed the Minister of Education Malaysia starting December 2022. She aims to use her vast experience to identify and tackle major issues at the Ministry of Education to improve the country’s education system.
Born on 16 October, 1977 and now at the age of 45, she has become Malaysia’s first female Education Minister.
She started her early education at Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan, Semenyih and then went on to Sekolah Agama Menengah Hulu Langat, Kajang, Selangor where she studied until 1994. She furthered her education at the International Islamic University of Malaysia (UIAM) where she obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and LLB (Syariah) degrees in 2002. In 2008, she obtained her Master of Laws (LLM) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She is married to Fadzli Arsad and the couple has six children.

Prior to her political career she was practising as a lawyer, specialising in Islamic family law and child welfare. She has a syariah law firm to her name ‘Tetuan Fadhlina Siddiq & Associates’.
Her political career began when she joined PKR in 2020. She was appointed as Chairman of the Women’s Bureau of Law & Community Development and was elected as the chief of the women’s wing in 2021. In September 2021, she was appointed to the Senate to represent Pulau Pinang until her resignation in November 2022. She is now the Member of Parliament for Nibong Tebal after winning the seat in the recent PRU15 under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition.
Our hopes now are for YB Puan Fadhlina Sidek to steer the country’s future generation forward, keeping students competitive in an increasingly globalised world.
