Here are some marketing-related jobs that didn’t exist before the Internet; some didn’t even exist 10 years ago. But the demand for these jobs are definitely not slowing down!
Social Media Manager

- Build the brand of your employer or client through the use of social media sites and tools like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vine, YouTube and blogs
- Post images, write convincing short posts, design marketing campaigns that promote a product or service over a period of time

PPC Manager or Analyst
What you’ll be doing:
- A PPC (pay-per-click) manager is responsible for placing ads on search engines and other media channels such as Google, Yahoo/Bing and Facebook
- Track and analyse monthly, weekly and daily budgets
- Get the best deals based on your company’s advertising budget by maintaining and monitoring keyword bids
- Keep up-to-date with search engine and PPC industry trends and developments

- You love analysing numbers and enjoy looking at graphs and charts
- You can think creatively, and identify and resolve problems
- You always keep up with new industries and businesses
- You like internet marketing
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) Specialist
What you’ll be doing:
- Analyse, review and implement changes to websites to increase the traffic to a site in order to make it reach the number one spot in search engine rankings
- Build systems and protocols internally that ensure all content is optimised across all platforms and user experiences (websites, mobile, social, video, blogs, retail portals, etc.)
- Write effective call-to-action statements; and original, powerful SEO content for blogs and websites

- You are analytical
- You love code, making tweaks, and tracking results over time
- You have a good understanding of language and can write well
- You aren’t afraid of technical stuff including programming language
Online Advertising Manager
What you’ll be doing:
- You may work for websites to sell ad programmes; and work with or advise clients (advertisers) about where to advertise on a website, and when and how to run online campaigns
- Or you may work for advertisers to run the online side of an advertiser’s business and track the performance of each advertising campaign

- You are artistic and analytical
- You are good at persuading people
- You have a knack for understanding what buyers like and what type of ads appeal to them
User Experience Manager
What you’ll be doing:
- Evaluate and improve the way customers and prospective customers encounter or experience the people and processes of a company and its services
- Make the daily technology interactions of users a pleasant and enjoyable experience
- Create deliverables or artifacts, such as user flows, wireframes and mockups
Choose this career if…
- You have an interest for code or don’t mind learning it (e.g. HTML 5, CSS, JavaScript, Flex, Flash, Silverlight, etc.)
- You are good at explaining things
- You are an open and effective communicator
- You are good at drawing or using visual media
Content Marketing Executive
What you’ll be doing:
- Write and produce various types of downloadable content and marketing offers like ebooks, webinars, free trials, discount codes, etc.
- Grow your company’s or client’s subscriber base by providing subscribers with regular, helpful content that’s aligned with their needs and interests
- Collaborate with designers, product marketers, sales professionals, and industry experts to produce relevant content (e.g. an interesting blog article, an insightful infographic or an engaging quiz)

Digital Analyst or Web Analytics Manager
What you’ll be doing:
- Analyse the traffic to a website or social pages and determine what pages people visit, how long they stay, where they come from, what devices they use and whether they “convert” (buy a product or sign up for something)
- Prepare and present useful information in various formats that help the decision-making process
- Advise the team on what strategies to use in order to generate more conversions

- You like researching especially on the behaviour of people and consumers
- You have good presentation skills
- You are mathematically inclined and don’t mind dealing with large amounts of data
Blogger or Vlogger
What you’ll be doing:
- Share your ideas, thoughts, expertise, or interests online with the aim of earning money through sponsored content and product placement
- Research and decide on what subject matters interest the audience
- Use web analytics to gauge content performance
- Handle social media marketing activities such as posting to Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram
- Create promotions, write newsletters, or design competitions for giveaways
Choose this career if…
- You are a people person and can engage an audience easily
- You want to work for yourself
- You are good at multitasking
- You are creative, entertaining and speak eloquently
