TARCIAN RUN 2024 CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF CHINA-MALAYSIA FRIENDSHIP

The date for TARCian Run 2024 is out! The 8th TARCian Run will take place on 22 September 2024 at TAR UMT Kuala Lumpur Campus. TARCian Run is an annually held event organised by the TARCian Alumni Association (TAA) and Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT).

This year’s run is unique on its own as in conjunction with the nationwide celebrations for 50 years of diplomatic ties between China and Malaysia, the run will also welcome participants from the China Students and Scholars Association in Malaysia (CSSA-MY).

Another highlight of this year’s TARCian Run is that the run participants will also include students of Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan (SMJK) Chong Hwa Kuala Lumpur. This inaugural effort by TAA and TAR UMT is to extend the reach of TARCian Run beyond its campus borders to share the joy, wellness and the spirit of togetherness with SMJK Chong Hwa's students, staff, family and friends, who are participating in the run as well.

This was unveiled during a press conference held at TAR UMT's Kuala Lumpur Campus on 26 June 2024, by Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy, Chairman of the Board of Governors (BOG), TAR UMT and Chairman of the TAR UMT Alumni Council (TAC).

"TARCian Run has always been about promoting a healthy lifestyle, sense of unity and solidarity among its students, staff, alumni, and the local community. But this year we are taking it one step further by welcoming participants from CSSA-MY, a symbolic gesture that highlights the strong bonds of friendship between China and Malaysia that was forged through five decades of good diplomatic ties, friendly relationships, and mutually beneficial synergy between our nations," said Tan Sri Chan during the press conference.

Prof Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei, President of TAR UMT, Mr Troy Chan Gwo Haur, President of TAA, Mr Jackie Tan, Vice President of TAA and Organising Chairman of TARCian Run 2024, Madam Tan Siew Choo, Principal of SMJK Chong Hwa KL, Datuk Ahmad Faisal Abdul Karim, General Manager of SPE - DUKE 3, Ms Guo Hong, Founder of Century Education, and representatives from CSSA-MY were also present during the press conference.

With Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) returning as a sponsor, TARCian Run 2024 will feature a 7km fun run spanning along a section of the scenic Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE). In addition, participants from TAR UMT Perak, Johor and Pahang branches will also join the run held in Kuala Lumpur Campus. Sin Chew Media Corporation Bhd has also returned as the official media partner for this year’s event.

TARCian Run 2024 will also have support from several other sponsors, including FELET International Holdings Sdn Bhd, Kerjaya Prospek Group Berhad, YEE TSL PLT, All ICT Group of Companies, Avia Foundation, B&G Capital Resources Berhad, Ebara Pumps Malaysia, Opus Farm Sdn Bhd, Top Glove, and Public Bank.

Apart from the fun run, there are many other attractions lined up including student performances, mini sport game park, freestyle football, and a lucky draw session.

Registration for TARCian Run 2024 was opened on 17 May 2024 and will close on 4 August 2024. Details of the registration fees are as follows:

*There is an early bird promotion of RM30 per pax for the first 500 TAR UMT students who register for the run.
